Twin Tiger Cubs Arrive
Excitement roared through CrabDance Zoo on October 3, 2023, when Bengal tiger Maya gave birth to twin cubs — a male and female. Born after a 104-day gestation, the cubs weighed 2.5 pounds each and opened their eyes within a week. Now thriving under Maya’s care in the Tiger Trail exhibit, they mark a milestone in our breeding program aimed at bolstering this endangered species.
Vet Dr. Alan Pierce called the birth “a triumph,” noting Maya’s calm demeanor. The cubs, yet to be named, will soon debut publicly, with a contest planned for visitors to vote on names. “They’re already pouncing and play-fighting,” said Keeper Tara Evans.
