About CrabDance Zoo
CrabDance Zoo opened its gates on June 15, 1990, in Seaside Town, ST 67890, founded by marine biologist Dr. Laura Hensley and philanthropist Marcus Reed. What began as a modest collection of local coastal species has blossomed into a 40-acre technological marvel housing over 600 species from every continent. Our vision — to bridge humanity and nature through innovation and care — drives everything we do, from exhibit design to global conservation partnerships.
Our Journey
The zoo’s early years focused on marine life, with the Coral Reef Aquarium as its cornerstone. By 1995, we expanded to include terrestrial exhibits like the Savannah Overlook, followed by the Rainforest Canopy in 2000. A major renovation in 2015 introduced AR-enabled tours, making us a pioneer in tech-enhanced zoos. Today, CrabDance Zoo attracts over 800,000 visitors annually, blending education with entertainment.
Mission and Innovation
We’re dedicated to animal welfare, conservation, and public engagement. Our habitats use advanced climate control and enrichment tools, while our staff — including veterinarians, biologists, and educators — work tirelessly to ensure every animal thrives. Exhibits like the Penguin Pavilion and Tiger Trail offer immersive experiences, complete with live feeds and interactive displays.
Conservation Impact
CrabDance Zoo supports global initiatives, from sea turtle hatcheries to tiger sanctuaries. Locally, we restore coastal habitats and educate thousands of schoolchildren each year through free programs. Our Summer Festival alone has raised over $1 million for wildlife since 2010.
